After grappling all this time with giving meaning to the extensive free time in my retirement, I am slowly making steps to feel better. And one thing that has made me feel A LOT BETTER is getting back to painting. After gathering materials and finding lots of inspiration on IG from accomplished artists I began the year with first sketches and little practise sessions in an artist's diary. But it didn't take long before I bought my first canvas. The very start was larger work using a mix of media in very light colors (and it somehow doesn't feel quite finished anymore, looking back at it after a couple of months' time): But there have also been works that I am a bit proud of. Like these two small canvasses (mixed media works) which were gifts to dear friends of mine in Berlin: And then, of of course, the work in the background of the cover photo for this blogpost, I called it "spring color explosion": You can see most of the works in the new section of this website under the top header "art" and it will be interesting to see where this new path will lead for me. Just today and yesterday I have been experimenting with a slightly different approach (and other colors - I tried to make use of the unloved brown hues I have in my paint selection!), but these are still works in progress: ... and a work on paper that's pretty much finished: Will keep you posted about further developments, until then: ENJOY SPRING!
