... summer days in Denmark and Holland - we spent a week each in Klittmoeller/DK and Julianadorp/NL. In both places we rented a vacation home, spacious in Denmark and very small and cozy but RIGHT ON THE BEACH in Holland! The Danish homeThe Danish house was sizeable and comfortable, featuring 3 bedrooms, a great kitchen/dining/living area with a fireplace, and a sauna (and even a washer/dryer). The Dutch homeThe Dutch house was a design gem right on the beach, much smaller, but fine for the four/five of us (my husband was there part of the time, mostly just my son and the two kids, and yours truly). See for yourself: The house was maybe one third of the size of the Danish one, only had one bedroom (but it could sleep 6, due to the attic with two beds and the living room couch being convertible to a comfortable bed). It had no washing machine, not even an oven - but all that was more than balanced by the fantastic location right on the beach. The beaches, comparedThe beaches were absolutely great in both places. It was a bit warmer in Holland, there were fewer people on the beach in Denmark (but not too many). The Dutch beach was more sandy in the water (many rocks and pebbles in Denmark), the dunes were a bit higher in Holland, too. The tides were similar in both countries, the weather also pretty much the same. In Denmark we even had rain in the first two days, but fine summer weather (at low temperatures, spring-like for us!) for the rest of the week. Holland was a tad warmer, but very windy! Top left and right are Denmark, lower left and right Holland! TO BE CONTINUED!!!
